Rabat – The Moroccan national karate team delivered a strong and composed performance at the Karate 1-Series A tournament held in A Coruña, Spain from April 24 to 26.

Organized by the World Karate Federation, the event is one of the most important stops on the international circuit and brings together top-ranked athletes and national teams at the Riazor Sports Palace.

Morocco came away with a medal and some solid wins. The standout result came in the women’s team kata. Sanae Agalmam, Aya En-Nesyry and Israa El Kahri took bronze. They beat Spain 5-0, then Portugal 4-1. They lost a tight one to Turkey, 2-3, but didn’t fall apart. Then they came back and beat the Czech Republic 4-1 to lock in a podium finish. Calm, consistent work.

In kumite, there were good signs too. Salah Eddine Koubidi (-84 kg) stayed in control and beat Latvia’s Aleksandrs Obernihins 5-2, clean and efficient. Ahmed Haddadi (-60 kg) brought more intensity. He pushed the pace and beat Dorta Janco 10-6 with strong attacking.

The Moroccan level looked better overall. The team was more composed. Decisions were smarter with more structure behind them.

That comes from the work being done by the Royal Moroccan Karate Federation and Associated Disciplines. More preparation, more exposure, and better planning, and it’s starting to show.

This tournament is a good test. It shows where the country stands against strong competition. Morocco isn’t at the very top yet, but they’re getting closer.
