Morocco to Face Norway in Final World Cup Warm-Up Friendly

The Morocco national football team will have one last test before the World Cup starts, taking on Norway on June 7 in New Jersey.

The game will be played at Sports Illustrated Stadium (Red Bull Arena) in Harrison, New Jersey, kicking off at 15:00 local time (20:00 in Morocco). It’s expected to be broadcast on ESPN Deportes and ESPN Unlimited.

It comes only six days before Morocco’s World Cup opener against Brazil at the FIFA World Cup 2026, which makes it the final real chance to get everything right before the pressure hits.

Since taking over, Mohamed Ouahbi has been trying to put his stamp on the team, using South American opponents to test different aspects of the squad. The recent results show a balance with a 1-1 draw against Ecuador and a 2–1 win over Paraguay in March.

Now comes Norway, a very different kind of challenge. With Erling Haaland leading the line, they bring power, direct play, and a physical edge. It will force the team to stay focused, defend well, and be efficient, which Morocco will need at the World Cup.

There’s also a practical reason behind the choice. Norway’s style is close to what Morocco might face against Scotland in their group, making this a logical opponent.

We can expect a few final decisions after that game from the newly appointed coach. It’s the last chance to build rhythm, sharpen details, and avoid surprises.

Playing in the United States also helps. Getting used to the environment early with the travel, atmosphere, and even the stadium feel can make a difference once the tournament starts.

After 2022, expectations have changed. The Atlas Lions are no longer a team just happy to be there, but they’re expected to compete and go far.
