Salah’s Final City Chapter Ends Quietly

Rabat – 4-0 meant everything for City and nothing for Liverpool. It was more about how Manchester City dominated Liverpool’s miserable defense. The highlight was Erling Haaland scoring a hat trick.

From the get-go, Liverpool looked unsure of themselves. The defense was easily exploited. Van Dijk was exceptionally out of form. He didn’t have control of the game and was repeatedly pulled out of position. But the problem wasn’t only his, spacing was poor and reactions were too slow, on the other hand, City’s attack was on full display and found openings with ease.

The absence of Alisson Becker made the situation even worse for Liverpool. They lacked the confidence to play out from the back. The absence of a first choice goalkeeper showed in the way Slot played, they lacked presence and confidence, and it clearly showed in how easily City converted their chances into goals.

For Salah, this fixture carried an additional weight, being his final chapter against the Citizens as he’s expected to leave Liverpool next summer. Instead of marking the rivalry in the last performance, he went missing and wasn’t able to shift the game, and when the clearest chance came, he missed a penalty and two chances on counters. These moments summed up his whole situation with the Reds lately.

Mohamed Salah has, consistently, been Manchester City’s problem over the last few years. According to Transfermarkt, against Pep Guardiola’s side, the forward has recorded roughly 13 goals and 8 assists in all competitions. This highlights the impact he has always been able to deliver in the clash against the two. Beyond these contributions, Mo Salah leaves Anfield as a true Liverpool legend, one that carried ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ spirit to the core.
