Morocco Embassy in UK Hosts London Police Delegation to Review Security Measures for 2030 World Cup

Agadir – The Moroccan Embassy in the UK  hosted a delegation from the London Metropolitan Police Service on Friday to share expertise in managing crowds and ensuring security at sports events, the Moroccan embassy reported.

The embassy stated that the delegation “specialized in football public order & match policing,” underlining areas for cooperation in maintaining safety, security, and crowd control during football matches.

The talks centered on preparations for the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal, as well as increased cooperation between Morocco and Britain on fan safety.

The Moroccan embassy says the partnership is a “valuable exchange on future cooperation, including crowd management, as Morocco prepares for the 2030 World Cup.”

The London visit builds on earlier collaborations, including a recent trip by a British sports security delegation to Rabat to study Morocco’s security model during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The British team observed Moroccan authorities utilizing advanced surveillance systems, drones, digital centers, and strategic crowd management in ensuring the smooth conduct of matches.

The team also visited the African Security Cooperation Center in Salé, which is Africa’s first center for real-time information exchange, linking Moroccan authorities with international partners including Interpol, FIFA, CAF, and representatives from Spain and Portugal.

In addition to the UK,  Morocco’s security model has also caught the attention of other global partners.

Early in January, a delegation from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) toured Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat to assess the security arrangements during the AFCON.

The FBI team was briefed on Morocco’s comprehensive safety protocols prepared to maintain  public order and safety. Among the measures discussed were how to manage fan crowd control,  surveillance systems, drone deployment and coordination between local police and national security services.
