Barcelona Forward Raphinha Out for Five Weeks

Rabat – The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has confirmed that forward Raphinha sustained an injury during the friendly between Brazil and France.

The international left the pitch at half-time after experiencing discomfort during the Brazil v France match in Boston on Thursday. The match ended in a 2-1 defeat for the South Americans.

Raphinha underwent imaging tests that confirmed muscle injuries, forcing Head coach Carlo Ancelotti to release the winger after the physical injury.

“Athletes Raphinha and Wesley were dropped from the squad this Friday, by coach Carlo Ancelotti – both felt pain in the back of their right thigh during the match against France. The players are free to continue their treatment. No other athletes will be called up to replace them,” the CBF stated.

Raphinha had previously encountered similar injuries in late September, which kept him off the pitch for two months.

As for Barcelona, competing on multiple fronts, losing a key-player with Raphinha’s skills and leadership at this crucial stage is a major setback for  coach Hansi Flick.

The 29-year-old will miss several upcoming games, delivering a significant blow for Barcelona ahead of Champions League and potentially for Brazil ahead of a crucial World Cup participation.
