Senegal-Peru Friendly Still Without Broadcaster Days Before Kickoff

Rabat – Senegal’s upcoming friendly against Peru at the Stade de France is facing uncertainty over its television broadcast, just days before kickoff.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at 17:00, but no French broadcaster has yet confirmed that it will air the game.

The situation remains unresolved with less than a week to go, leaving many supporters unsure how they will be able to watch Senegal’s first match since the Africa Cup of Nations.

This issue has no connection to the ongoing legal dispute between Senegal and Morocco following the AFCON final. Instead, it appears to come from difficulties in securing broadcasting rights.

    No confirmed broadcaster

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) launched an international call for tenders on March 13 in an effort to sell the rights for the match. However, no major French network, including L’Equipe or Canal+ Sport, has announced any agreement so far.

At this stage, only the American channel FOX Deportes is reported to have secured rights to broadcast the match. In France, listings still show the matches “not scheduled,” adding to the frustration among fans.

The lack of clarity is notable given the scale of the match. The match is expected to draw around 80,000 spectators at the Stade de France, with organizers planning a large celebration around the team.

The decision comes shortly after CAF awarded Morocco the title AFCON based on Articles 82 and 84.

Senegal’s stance has remained clear in recent weeks. The team has indicated it does not intend to relinquish the title until the legal process is complete.

The Senegalese federation said it will use the friendly match against Peru as an occasion to present the AFCON trophy on the pitch.
