Rabat – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has firmly denied reports of theft and looting in areas affected by recent floods in Ksar El Kebir.

The DGSN confirmed that, as of Friday, local police have received no complaints or official reports of theft. It added that investigations, including checking with shop owners mentioned in the reports, and no evidence of looting was found.

Police added that social media posts claiming that shops and health facilities had been robbed were false.

Officials emphasized that all security forces in Ksar El Kebir are fully deployed alongside other public services to maintain order and protect residents and property. Security units are actively applying strict protocols to prevent any criminal activity and ensure the safety of the affected population, DGSN concluded.

Meanwhile, Ksar El Kebir continues to face serious flooding following heavy rainfall and the overflow of the Oued El Makhazine dam. Videos circulating online show streets, homes, and cars submerged in water reaching waist level, with authorities urging residents to evacuate ground floors and move to higher levels.

In response to the flooding, King Mohammed VI ordered the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) to intervene immediately. The FAR has deployed units with vehicles, equipment, and logistics support to evacuate affected residents and provide emergency assistance.

A temporary shelter was set up near the city on the Tetouan road, with around 100 fully equipped tents, heating systems, and a field hospital staffed with medical teams and ambulances.
