Morocco Education Ministry Addresses Exam Leak Issues

Rabat – In response to the leak of written exam topics for continuous assessment tests and the local unified exam in pioneer primary schools, Morocco’s Ministry of National Education convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday evening.

The meeting’s main goal was to adopt additional measures and set new dates after the ministry decided to repeat the affected tests.

The remote coordination session brought together the Director of Primary Education Curricula, regional pedagogical coordinators nationwide, and members of the central unit overseeing the Pioneer Schools project.

Officials agreed that the local unified exam and continuous assessment tests in Arabic, French, and mathematics for all primary levels will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 3 and 4.

Exam papers will be printed at the regional directorates, the ministry said.

Authorities also decided to cancel previously recorded results for the written components of the affected subjects, meaning schools will not enter any such results.

Students absent for justified reasons will be offered a remedial session on February 9.

Regarding the sealed mathematics exam envelopes, the ministry recommended using them as training exercises to gauge students’ progress, identify remaining learning gaps, and prepare for the third and fourth assessment phases.

The ministry urged schools to use the remaining days of the current week to complete oral assessments for all levels, enter results, and administer mathematics evaluations as training tools where feasible.

On the legal front, the ministry confirmed that its Directorate of Legal Affairs has begun procedures against those responsible for leaking exam and continuous assessment topics on social media, as well as the source of the leak, to apply appropriate sanctions.
