Finding the best Marrakech restaurants with alcohol can be tricky. First of all, Morocco is a conservative, Muslim country.

Therefore, while alcohol is readily available and can legally be purchased/consumed (just don’t get drunk in public or drink in a place that is not licensed to sell alcohol), serving alcohol is not as common since many people don’t drink alcohol in Morocco.

Yes, there are bars and restaurants that serve alcohol in Marrakech. But, many don’t since drinking alcohol is forbidden in the Quran, aka the sacred religious text of Islam.

So, if you head to popular Marrakech restaurants like Nomad, you’ll quickly find that they do not serve alcohol and that you’ll need to go elsewhere for a drink.

In fact, many restaurants in the Medina of Marrakech do not serve alcohol since this is considered an ancient and sacred part of the city. Plus, the ones that do sometimes suck and are not very good.

However, I am a local. I have lived in Morocco since January of 2023 and have lived/come to Marrakech quite frequently since I live nearby.

So, I know all about drinking alcohol in Marrakech and some of the best restaurants serving alcohol in Marrakech.

Because, while there are restaurants in Marrakech with alcohol, some of them are overpriced and kind of suck.

Yeah, just because a place has a bar, doesn’t mean it’s worth your time or hard-earned money or that you should actually eat there.

Therefore, I created this post to help you figure out where to go and how to find the best restaurants serving alcohol in Marrakech. This way, you’ll know exactly where to go and don’t have to stress about finding a drink.

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure for more information. As an Amazon Associate, I earn a small commission from qualifying purchases.

Local Tip: If you want to grab a drink then head to the Gueliz neighborhood. It’s about a 30-minute walk from the Medina and a chic, modern neighborhood where you can find all of the best bars and clubs in Marrakech.

It’s also worth noting that some of these restaurants may stop serving alcohol during Ramadan in Morocco since this is the holiest month of the year.

    1. La Salama Sky Bar

La Salama Sky Bar is one of those restaurants in Marrakech with alcohol that is known for its incredible ambiance.

See, the rooftop of this incredible bar/restaurant sits about one or two stories higher that all of the surrounding buildings.

Therefore, you can sit beneath an open-air roof – complete with a ceiling filled with plants and natural vines, and admire unparalleled views of the city as you relax at a long wooden table.

I also love that each of the floors of the restaurant has a separate, unique theme, making this a cool place to hang out. The best time to visit is at sunset when the terracotta buildings of Marrakech take on an incredible red hue.

If you can, drop in for happy hour. It run from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and can enjoy two-for-one deals on beer, wine, and Aperol Spritz.

Yeah, drinks here are super expensive and you can pay €6.00 just for a soda. They also charge you for bread and olives which I am not a fan of.

So, happy hour is worth it. I have also had the hummus and the guacamole. Both were good. Just be prepared to spend lots of MONEY here.

I would also make a reservation since this is one of the best restaurants with a view in Marrakech. They also have an over-the-top belly dancing show that I am personally not into.

However, you can always go somewhere else since this area in Marrakech is full of lots of cool places and is near some of the best riads in Marrakech with a pool.

    2. Restaurant – Le 68 Bar à Vin Marrakech

A view of the sign out in front of Le 68 Bar à Vin Marrakech.A view of the sign out in front of Le 68 Bar à Vin Marrakech.

Located in Gueliz, this cool French restaurant is also a chic wine bar with wooden, industrial-style interiors that make you want to chill out and have a glass of wine (or 10).

I also love that the people are friendly and that they serve an amazing selection of wines that are available at very reasonable prices.

Additionally, the menu is pretty varied and includes everything from tapas to giant steaks. However, the last time I was here my partner and I ordered the charcuterie board with bread.

It was super good and the portions were extremely generous. We also ordered the oysters and coq au vin, both of which were great.

This spot is popular though. So, definitely make a reservation, especially if you’re visiting during a weekend in Marrakech. Yeah, this place is small and has a cozy vibe, so it does get packed.

Local Tip: If you’re not a fan of smoking then head upstairs since that is the non-smoking section. You can also visit before checking out some of the best nightclubs in Gueliz.

Just don’t forget to learn what to tip in Marrakech since it’s really important.

    3. Kabana

What I love about Kabana is that it’s this amazing fusion restaurant just outside the Medina that features a well-decorated rooftop with views of Koutoubia Mosque.

TBH, I kind of wish the hedges on the rooftop had been cut back a bit so that you can get a better view of the mosque. But, the rooftop is still lovely with lots of sleek, modern decor and shaded tables where you can relax the day away.

It’s also one of the best brunch spots in Marrakech since brunch here is offered daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The food is delicious and I loved that I could order brunch in the afternoon.

I got the Shakshuka with spinach, avocado, and harissa. It was huge and absolutely delicious. It was served in this giant skillet, with three eggs, and a small basket of bread on the side.

My partner got the Tiramisu French toast and loved that as well. Yes, the food is a bit expensive at 130 Dirhams ($13.00) per person. However, the prices aren’t outrageous, especially given the ambiance and decor on the rooftop.

Since this is one of the best restaurants in Marrakech with alcohol, I would get the “special” Long Island Ice tea. It’s very strong but is delish if you can handle it.

You can also just order that if you’re here to grab a drink at one of the best bars in Marrakech. This is also a great place to eat in Marrakech for vegans and is an awesome place to celebrate New Year in Marrakech.

    4. Le Trou au Mur

Tucked away in the Medina, Le Trou au Mur is a gem of a Marrakech restaurant with alcohol. It sits inside the stunning, La Farnatchi boutique hotel and is a great place to go to enjoy a romantic date night for two.

After all, the atmosphere is intimate and the food is absolutely amazing. If you can, order any of their meat tajines (the camel is epic) since they are fantastic.

I also loved the M’rouzia (slow-cooked beef marinated in honey, raz el hanout, saffron, and coriander) with a side of mac and cheese.

It reminded me a bit of home, but with a Moroccan twist. I paired my meal with an Earl Grey martini and it was outstanding.

Additionally, the staff is amazing. They are fluent in many languages and expertly explain the menu so that you can make a great choice.

They also have a lovely outdoor terrace where you can sit and enjoy views of the city. The views aren’t the best I’ve ever seen but they are definitely nice, especially at sunset.

You can even dine outside in the winter since the patio is well-outfitted with heaters and blankets. Again, make a reservation since this restaurant serving alcohol in Marrakech can get busy.

Also, be prepared for a bit of a splurge since dinner entrees are 150 + Dirhams ($15.00) each. Cocktails are also priced at around 120 Dirhams ($12.00) each.

    5. La Pergola

Part rooftop bar and part jazz oasis for music lovers, this epic restaurant and bar in Marrakech was purchased by Riad Monceau.

It is the place to go if you want to listen to live jazz music since performances are conducted by Black Experience from 8:00 pm until 11:00 pm, making this one of the best things to do in Marrakech at night.

You also won’t have any trouble finding this restaurant in Marrakech that serves alcohol since it is centrally located near Jemaa El Fna Square and is a great spot for a date night in Marrakech.

Make a reservation and head straight to the roof since the decor makes you feel as though you are attending a chic garden party. Just know that this isn’t the best place to watch the sunset.

There is only a small area on the roof where you can watch it and the view is obstructed everywhere else.

But, there’s greenery everywhere and you can hide away at a cozy table while sipping on epic cocktails like Love in the Orange Grove cocktail, the Morocco Mule, and the Berber Mojito.

If you can, stop by this epic bar in Marrakech for happy hour and enjoy nice discounts from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. I tried the Black Burger the last time I was here and it was really nice.

Additionally, the decor and ambiance is EPIC since you’ll find multi-color umbrellas hanging from the ceiling in some spots.

    6. La Table de La Sultana

Well-located near Badi Palace, La Table de La Sultana is associated with the five-star hotel of the same name, La Sultana.

If you’re in the area, visit the hotel’s spa. They offer an array of hammam treatments that are amazing and that you’ll find at some fo the best hammams in Marrakech.

Afterward, head to La Table de La Sultana for some drinks and food. First of all, the decor is stunning, You’ll sit amidst these grand, brick archways that are surrounded by lush palm trees and a beautiful blue pool.

You can then enjoy a quiet dinner filled with exquisite food, top-notch service, and an amazing wine list. It’s not cheap but is a great place to go if you want to dine in luxury.

I got the vegetarian tajine the last time i was here and really liked that they had an extensive menu of French wines. They also have several set menus that may be worth a look since a la carte entrees start at 300+ Dirhams ($30.00) each.

Local Tip: If you don’t want to do a full sit-down dinner and just want drinks and small plates then head to Le Odette Bar & Mezze. The views of the Koutoubia Mosque are great.

I liked the tasting of four Lebanese dishes and the Midnight in Marrakech cocktail. But, drinks are very expensive and cost like 190 Dirhams ($19.00) each.

    7. Cafe Arabe

Rooftop with low tables and comfy chairs at Cafe Arabe with sweeping views of the city in the background.Rooftop with low tables and comfy chairs at Cafe Arabe with sweeping views of the city in the background.

Easily one of the best cafes in Marrakech, Cafe Arabe is a unique Italian and Moroccan restaurant that you can visit in the Medina.

It’s right near Jardin Secret, but can be a little hard to find. Keep trying though since this is one of the best restaurants in Marrakech serving alcohol.

I love the amazing Bohemian-inspired decor as well as the exceptional views of the city. Like with most of the spots on this list, this place is popular.

So, if you want to sit on the roof and watch the sunset while sipping on a Comso and a Daiquiri fraise then definitely make a reservation.

You can also order a pizza since they are good. It’s not as tasty as the pizza in NYC, but it is worth trying, especially when paired with a vin gris (a light Moroccan rose).

Personally, I like to stop by for breakfast in Marrakech (I like the Continental) since the place is a lot less crowded at this time of day.

    8. Le Marrakchi

An aerial view of people walking around in the evening in Jemaa el-Fna Square in Marrakech. This is one of the best free things to do in Marrakech at niight. An aerial view of people walking around in the evening in Jemaa el-Fna Square in Marrakech. This is one of the best free things to do in Marrakech at niight.

I’ll be the first one to admit that most of the restaurants in and around Jemaa El Fna Square do not serve alcohol.

However, Le Marrakchi does and is filled with white tile floors, red walls, red velvet seats, and round wicker lamps hanging from the ceiling.

Personally, I love to stop by and just admire the stunning views of the square. I typically order wine since the drinks here are strong.

The food is also good but not great. However, if you’re feeling hungry then you can’t go wrong with the lamb and fig tajine. The last time I was here I thought it was pretty tasty. The chicken skewers and veggie tajine are also solid.

The music in the bar can get a bit loud and this place is a bit touristy since it is right by the main square. However, you are here for the views since very few restaurants in Marrakech serve alcohol in this area.

    9. Narawama

If you’re looking for a night to remember filled with dinner, drinks, and a good show then you can’t beat Narawama.

In fact, much of the decor in this restaurant resembles a cool museum in Marrakech since this restaurant has UNESCO protection andsits inside an old riad.

So, expect an open central courtyard and tables with red chairs that surround a charming central fountain. There’s even a fire pit and gorg-gilded interiors.

Ask your waiter and they’ll be happy to show your around the restaurant and explain it’s unique history.

If I am being brutally honest this place is good, but it is expensive. I definitely wouldn’t come here regularly since I can’t afford it.

I usually get the Moroccan ‘grey’ wine when I am here. If you’re gonna get food, steer clear of the Thai cuisine and try something Moroccan. The Thai food you get at home is probably better than what you’ll get here.

Local Tip: If you are looking for one of the coolest things to do in Marrakech in the evening then stop by for their nightly performances filled with traditional dancers, belly dancers, and violinists.

The show is pretty nice and a fun way to relax after a crazy day in Marrakech. It usually starts around 9:00 pm, but I think they have an earlier show at 7:30 pm too.

    10. Dardar Rooftop : Cocktails & Eat

A round, ceramic tagine plate filled with veggies from one of the best restaurants in Chefchaouen. You can see onions and green bits on the top of the tagine.A round, ceramic tagine plate filled with veggies from one of the best restaurants in Chefchaouen. You can see onions and green bits on the top of the tagine.

What can I say about Dardar? It’s actually one of the few places that lives up to all the Instagram hype.

First of all, the views of the Atlas Mountains and Koutoubia Mosque are lovely from the roof So, if you can, definitely reserve a seat in this part of the restaurant.

Secondly, the decor is awesome. You have this open-air rooftop with white, wooden beams that have round lanterns hanging down from them.

The perimeter of the rooftop also has beige curtains that you can pull back for epic views of the city. TBH, it all looks exceptionaly beautiful in the evening when the sun sets and the lanterns come on.

So, make a reservation since this spot is NOT a hidden gem in Marrakech. Now, the last time I was here the service was a bit slow.

However, I still enjoyed my drinks and food. I preferred the appetizers to the mains and loved the eggplant churros as well as the chicken pastilla. The ‘Kech’ Mojito was also nice too.

It is very touristy and definitely overcrowded/expensive. Therefore, keep that in mind when dining here.

On the plus side, I did get to see belly dancers and a magician perform the last time I was here. I also heard that live DJs perform too.

    11. Comptoir Darna

First and foremost, you need to make a reservation since this stylish, 2-storey restaurant in Marrakech is popular among tourists who visit for the vibrant decor and the fun belly dancing/musical performances.

It’s dimly lit, but super photogenic since it features stained glass windows behind the bar, modern candle holders, ornate plush couches, Berber rugs, and star lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

The last time I was here I ordered miso salmon and the sweet pastilla for dessert. Both were amazing and I highly recommend visiting if you’re not sure where to eat in Marrakech.

I like to sit downstairs on the terrace and love that you can watch musicians playing on the steps that lead to a secondary bar area. I also enjoyed seeing the candle dancers (they dance with a tray of candles on their head) and belly dancers.

The one negative is that the music can be a bit loud which makes it difficult to chat. The tables are also tightly packed together, so you sometimes feel like a sardine in this restaurant.

Local Tip: The dress code is smart casual. So, no shorts or flip-flops, which is on my list of what not to wear in Marrakech anyway.

The drinks are a bit expensive too. Cocktails start at 170 Dirhams ($17.00). The last time I went here I got the Magic Marrakech and really enjoyed it.

    12. Barometre

Four friends holding drinks together while sitting outside. You can see their hands and arms as they raise their glasses together outside. Four friends holding drinks together while sitting outside. You can see their hands and arms as they raise their glasses together outside.

Opened by the Hadni brothers in 2016, Barometre is the first restaurant and cocktail bar in Marrakech that is dedicated to the fine art of mixology.

So, if you’re looking for a chic and stylish oasis for nightlife in Marrakech, then head to this trendy restaurant in Gueliz.

It features gorgeous decor that beautifully blends industrial style with Moroccan decor. In fact, it has a speakeasy feel about it and is hidden behind a random door on the street that takes down into the basement.

TBH, this is probably one of my favorite restaurants with alcohol in Marrakech.

The staff are amazing and helpful. The cocktails are delicious, imaginative, and beautifully presented. The food is also top-notch. I ordered the beef carpaccio and almost licked my plate clean.

Yes, it’s expensive. However, you’re paying for the ambiance and the high-end presentation. So, keep that in mind when you stop by.

I also have to say that the Jimmy Hendricks was an amazing drink and this beautiful fusion of gin with basil.

Local Tip: Be sure to stop by some of the best vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Marrakech since they are located in this area too.

    13. L’Mida

Aerial view of a round vegetarian pastilla on a yellow plate with a salad around it. Aerial view of a round vegetarian pastilla on a yellow plate with a salad around it.

When you live in Marrakech, it’s never really hard to find delicious food. But L’Mida is one of those magical places that feels special every time I go.

It’s tucked away in the medina, and once you step inside, it feels modern, creative, and effortlessly cool without trying too hard.

The rooftop is the real star, though, since it is bright, stylish, and perfect if you want to enjoy a long lunch or watch the sunset over the city.

The vibe at L’Mida is relaxed but elevated. It’s the kind of place where locals, expats, and visitors all come together. So, the energy always feels just right.

The menu is also super fun and puts a modern twist on Moroccan flavors. I usually order a few dishes to share. But, the briouats are a must, and their lamb dishes are epic if you’re feeling extra hungry. .

Aside from the food, L’Mida is also one of the best spots in the medina for a proper cocktail. Their spritzes are perfect after a hot day, and they make an excellent gin and tonic as well.

However, if you’re more of a wine person, they also have solid Moroccan wines that surprised me in the best possible way.

    14. MK Rooftop

View of Koutotubia Mosque on a sunny day from a rooftop with pillows and banquet sats along tables with bits of fabric hanging down from the roof. This is one of the best Marrakech restaurants with alcohol. View of Koutotubia Mosque on a sunny day from a rooftop with pillows and banquet sats along tables with bits of fabric hanging down from the roof. This is one of the best Marrakech restaurants with alcohol.

When you live in a city like this, you quickly find out which rooftops are actually worth returning to. Well, I am delighted to say that MK Rooftop is absolutely one such rooftop.

Situated high above the medina, it’s calm, stylish, and quietly luxurious without being flashy or pretentious. It’s not a party rooftop; it’s a place you go to unwind, especially as the sun starts to set and the call to prayer reverberates across the city.

The vibe is relaxed and refined, with comfortable seating, soft lighting, and incredible views over the rooftops and the Atlas Mountains.

It’s perfect for a slow evening spent catching up with friends and just enjoying all the beauty of Marrakech.

In terms of the food, the cuisine here is elevated Moroccan with a bit of Mediterranean flair. So, everything feels well done.

I usually order a few small plates, like the briouats and salads. I usually share these with friends and pair them with a well-balanced cocktail that isn’t overly sweet.

I always order their gin-based cocktails and never walk away disappointed.
