Rabat – Casablanca moved forward into the future of scientific and technological education with the creation of a Moroccan team in the FIRST Robotics Competition, a world-famous STEM initiative based in the U.S.

The project was launched on December 19, in a collaboration between the U.S. Mission and Loop for Science and Technology, marking the beginning of a new era of youth-led innovation in Morocco.

The purpose of the FIRST Robotics Competition is to engage high school students in designing, building, and programming scaled-up robotic systems engagingly and competitively.

The skills required in this initiative encompass not only technological skills but also teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills, providing hands-on learning experiences for high school students that mirror those of an actual professional working environment.

The aim goes beyond promoting interest in science and technology to preparing high school scholars for today’s global job market.

The Casablanca event served as the official launch for the upcoming season of the FRC in Morocco. In the event, the rules, format, and timeline involved in the competition were discussed as an introduction for the students and mentors.

This served as an opportunity for network formation, idea sharing, and the development of approaches for the upcoming months.

Organizers have clarified that the launch is part of a broader commitment to increasing accessibility to quality STEM education to promote innovation through global cooperation.

Through collaboration with local organizations, the U.S. Mission is working to promote American approaches and expertise to support the increasing Moroccan innovation base among the younger generation.

With continued investment in education and technology by the Moroccan government, the start of the FIRST Robotics Competition is expected to open new doors for those who aspire to make a career in engineering and scientific fields.

The Casablanca kick-off event was more than a mere gathering for most participants; it marked the beginning of their robotics adventure — a journey into robotics, creativity, and global competition.
