Saudi Arabia advanced to the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 semifinals with a dramatic 2–1 extra-time win over Palestine on Thursday. Saudi Arabia advanced to the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 semifinals with a dramatic 2–1 extra-time victory over Palestine on Thursday, following Morocco’s earlier qualification to the last four. The quarterfinal clash delivered tension, VAR drama, and a heartbreaking yet proud exit for Palestine in a tournament that has already been historic for them.

After a tight first half ended 0–0, Saudi Arabia got the breakthrough in the 55th minute. A foul in the box gave them a penalty, and Al-Buraikan calmly converted, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Palestine responded with determination. A precise cross from Ameed Sawafta found Oday Dabbagh, who finished with a right-footed strike into the bottom corner to level the score. Late drama followed: a Saudi goal in the 92nd minute was ruled offside, and a VAR check denied a late penalty appeal.

Extra time saw Mohammed Kanno rise to head a cross in the 115th minute, giving Saudi Arabia the 2–1 win.

Even in defeat, Palestine showed incredible sportsmanship. Players and coaches accepted the result gracefully and dedicated their historic Arab Cup journey to Palestinians everywhere, earning respect from everyone throughout the tournament.

Saudi Arabia will now face the winner of Jordan vs. Iraq in the semifinals, while Morocco waits in the other bracket for the winner of Algeria vs UAE.
