    Jodie Foster Receives Tribute at Marrakech Film Festival

    Rabat – The 22nd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival offered one of its most anticipated moments this evening, as Jodie Foster was honored with a special tribute at the Palais des Congrès. 

    The acclaimed American actor and filmmaker received the festival’s trophy from this year’s jury president, Bong Joon Ho, in a ceremony marked by warmth, admiration, and an unmistakable sense of cinematic history.

    The hall was filled to capacity, with the audience rising in a long standing ovation as Foster stepped onto the stage. 

    The atmosphere was electric, with all  festivalgoers applauding not only her decades-long career but also her influence across generations of filmmakers and film lovers.

    In her remarks, Foster expressed her joy at being in Marrakech and reflected on her enduring relationship with cinema. 

    She also thanked the festival for its continued support of international storytelling, describing Marrakech as “a place where audiences truly care about the art of film.”

    The tribute evening continued with a screening of excerpts from her most celebrated works, offering a reminder of her range, from early performances to her most recent projects. 

    For many at the festival, the night stood out as one of the defining moments of this year’s edition, reaffirming Marrakech’s reputation for honoring artists who have shaped the global film landscape.

    Several of Foster’s landmark films are being screened throughout this year’s edition, giving audiences a chance to revisit key moments from her career. 

    From early breakthroughs to later directorial work, the festival’s program offers a curated journey through her filmography, allowing viewers to engage with the evolution of her craft on the big screen.
