Buckeyes flip 4-star Florida State DB commit

BOOM! As they say. Ohio State football just got a big commitment via a flip from the Florida State Seminoles when four-star cornerback Jay Timmons announced his intentions to play for Ohio State on Thursday.

Out of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, Timmons is the son of former Florida State and Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons. Getting a legacy flip always seems to be difficult, especially one committed to the Seminoles since June, but the family connections never seemed to be too strong to overcome the chance to play for the Buckeyes.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Timmons is rated as the No. 17 cornerback and 136th overall prospect in the 2026 class. He originally committed to Indiana in April before flipping to FSU, and now he appears to be all set to wear the Scarlet and Gray.

Ohio State now has two cornerbacks committed in the 2026 class, bringing the total number of commitments in the cycle to 22. The class currently ranks No. 8 overall according to the 247Sports Team Composite rankings.

Ohio State will look to add a few more players to the class as we get closer to the early signing period that begins on Dec. 3.
