Rabat – Moroccan striker Yassir Zabiri has officially signed with Stade Rennais, completing a move from Portuguese side Famalicao.
The 20-year-old forward agreed to a contract that runs until June 2030, marking a major step in his career after a strong season in Portugal.
Zabiri stood out in Liga Portugal with his speed, movement, and finishing.
He scored 4 goals in 12 matches, helping Famalicao climb the table and earning attention from top European clubs.
Stade Rennais moved quickly to secure the deal, seeing Zabiri as a long-term option in attack.
His rise began earlier with Morocco’s U20 team. At the 2025 U20 World Cup in Chile, Zabiri led the Atlas Cubs to the title, scoring 5 goals, including a brace in the final against Argentina.
He won the Golden Boot and was named one of the tournament’s best players.
At Rennes, Zabiri is expected to join the first team and compete for minutes right away. The club values his ability to stretch defenses and score in tight spaces.
He becomes one of the few Moroccan forwards in Ligue 1 alongside Hamza Igamne, a league known for developing African talent.
This move confirms Zabiri’s growing reputation and gives Moroccan fans another player to follow in France’s top division.
