Marrakech – Yango Ride has announced the launch of the “Yango Championship Cup,” a national competition designed to recognize partner drivers in Casablanca during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.

The competition runs from December 23, 2025, to January 21, 2026. Drivers must complete at least 150 trips during this period and maintain a minimum rating of 4.8 to qualify for the contest.

The top three drivers will receive major prizes, including televisions and smartphones. An additional 41 winners will be awarded power banks, shopping vouchers, and fuel vouchers.

“Our drivers are at the heart of our service. The Yango Championship Cup is a concrete way to recognize their commitment and professionalism,” said Amine Najim, COO of Yango Morocco.

The initiative includes on-the-ground activations and local activities in Casablanca. These efforts aim to strengthen Yango’s relationship with its driver community during the AFCON period.

Eligible drivers can follow updates, rankings, and winner announcements through the Yango Pro app and official company channels.

This competition comes as Yango continues expanding its services across Morocco. The global mobility company launched its test phase in Casablanca in April 2023, marking Morocco as the second North African country to receive Yango services, spanning ride-hailing and public transportation solutions.

After it launched operations in May 2023, Yango registered 6,000 drivers on its platform by November of the same year, according to company director Zouhair Bougattaya. The platform includes taxi drivers, and the company partnered with the Democratic Transport Union (SDT) to encourage their participation.

In June 2025, Yango introduced the Traffic Score feature within its Navigator service. This tool evaluates real-time congestion levels on Casablanca roads using a scale from 0 to 10, with 0 indicating smooth traffic and 10 representing near-standstill conditions.

The Traffic Score feature helps residents and visitors plan their movements within the city. It provides instant updates and suggests more efficient routes, particularly during major events like AFCON 2025.

“Faced with traffic jams, people need reliable solutions to save time and move around more peacefully,” said Shashi Shekhar Singh, Head of Operations for Yango Ride-hailing in the MENAP & Africa region at the time of the Traffic Score launch.

Yango initially started in 2018 as a brand developed by the Yandex Taxi team. The company now operates independently with headquarters in Dubai and serves more than 30 countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and South America.

It is active in over 25 countries through its flagship Yango Ride service, collaborating with local taxi companies and enhancing their efficiency through technology rather than owning vehicles directly.

According to Yango Group’s inaugural Impact Report published in December 2025, the company’s partner network includes 2.1 million registered drivers and 600,000 couriers globally. Partners across Yango platforms earned more than $4 billion in 2024.

Yango’s application is available in multiple languages, including Arabic and French. The platform uses geolocation technology to connect users with the nearest available driver, reducing waiting times.

After establishing its presence in Casablanca, Yango announced plans to expand to other Moroccan cities starting in the first quarter of 2024. The company positions itself as a contributor to Morocco’s smart city development initiatives.
