Rabat– Vueling, a key carrier in Spain, has announced a new air route connecting Barcelona and Nador, in Morocco’s Oriental region.
Europa Press reported on Monday that the air route will operate with two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Vueling will connect the two destinations four times during the summer season, including on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
The airline already operates routes from Barcelona to other Moroccan cities like Agadir, Essaouira, Marrakech, and Tangier.
It will also add flights to Fez. The flights could contribute to offers for Morocco’s community in Spain.
The Moroccan community in Spain is estimated at 1.1 million, making it the foreign community in the country.
Moroccans led the list of foreigners who acquired Spanish nationality in 2024, with 42,910 Moroccan citizens becoming Spanish nationals.
The offer is also ideal for Spaniards, who see Morocco as one of the top holiday choices.
A survey by travel platform Evaneos in 2024 said Morocco is an ideal holiday hub for Spanish families.
“On a few hours by plane, Morocco presents itself as a fantastic destination that’s easily accessible, thanks to its blend of ancient traditions and vibrant modernity,” Europa Press explains.
Spanish families are especially favoring Marrakech charm and the sense of the Sahara desert, with Europa Press reporting that “Morocco offers countless opportunities for family exploration.”
The North African country welcomed nearly 20 million tourists in 2025, a key milestone and a first in the country’s history.
