Rabat – The US mission in Morocco announced the relocation of the Consulate General in Casablanca to Casa Finance City.

The project is estimated at an investment of over $300 million, the embassy said, pledging the creation of hundreds of jobs and contributing up to $100 million to Morocco’s economy during its construction, a statement from the US embassy said.

A statement from the US embassy said the relocation from Boulevard Moulay Youssef in Casablanca marks a “new chapter in the enduring partnership” between the two countries.

The last day of visa and American Citizen Services at the Moulay Youssef headquarters will be on April 21.

The consulate will begin operating from its new headquarters at Casa Finance City on April 28.

“The move concerns all Consulate General facilities, including the office building located on Boulevard Moulay Youssef and the cultural center Dar America, currently located at Place Belair, Gauthier,” the statement reads.

Dar America Gauthier’s location will close on April 10 and reopen on May 5 in Casa Finance City.

The US mission in Morocco pledged to remain available for emergency assistance to US citizens in Morocco during the transition.

People seeking visa information are encouraged to visit http://www.ustraveldocs.com,  the mission said, inviting visa applicants and anyone concerned about the relocation to consult the US embassy’s page for more details.

The mission stated that the relocation reflects partnership and innovation between the two countries.

The new headquarters of the consulate is “designed to reflect the deep historical and cultural ties between Morocco and the United States, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of relations between the two countries,” the statement added.

It described the new compound as a blend of contemporary US architecture and Moroccan influences.

Commenting on the relocation, US Ambassador to Morocco Duke Buchan said the new consulate celebrates not only a modern symbol of American diplomacy, but also the enduring 250-year-old friendship between the United States and Morocco.

He added that this investment seeks to honor the deep roots of partnership between the two countries and “look forward to building an even better future together.”

Consul General Marissa Scott expressed excitement to welcome visitors to the new location in Casa Finance City.

“This facility will help us serve the people of Morocco and the United States even better and strengthen the close ties between our countries,” she said, emphasizing commitment to cooperation with Rabat in this new chapter.
