Rabat – Three US soldiers have died and five others were seriously injured after a military operation called “Epic Fury” hit Iranian facilities over the weekend, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said today.
CENTCOM added that several other troops suffered minor injuries from shrapnel and concussions, and they are returning to duty.
“Major combat operations are ongoing, and our response efforts continue,” the command said.
The military said it will not release the names of the soldiers who died until their families have been officially notified, expected within 24 hours.
The US-Israel strikes targeted Iranian Revolutionary Guard command centers, missile and drone launch sites, air defense systems, and military airfields.
CENTCOM said its forces repelled hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks after the first wave of strikes.
US President Donald Trump warned today that any Iranian retaliation would be met with “unprecedented force.”
He wrote on Truth Social that Iran had threatened to strike harder than ever before, and that such an attack would trigger a strong US response.
Iran confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and announced plans for another wave of missile and drone attacks against US bases in the region and in Israel.
The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for possible further escalation.
