Rabat – Tetouan authorities confirmed that four people died and a fifth remains missing after a sudden flood swept through the Lamouawja village in Bni Harchen, Jbel Lahbib, on Saturday.
The victims were traveling in a small car on provincial road no. 4704, when a surge from the Rmilat river overwhelmed the vehicle.
Local officials described the flood as sudden and powerful, catching the passengers off guard.
Authorities, security forces, and civil protection units launched immediate rescue efforts.
The operation used all available resources, including divers, trained search dogs, a drone, and volunteers from the surrounding area.
During the night, rescuers recovered two victims: a 14-year-old girl and a two-year-old child.
The following morning, they found the bodies of a 12-year-old boy and a man in his thirties. Search operations continue for the fifth missing person.
A judicial investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor, now seeks to clarify the circumstances behind this tragic accident.
