Sofyan Amrabat Returns to Sevilla to Continue Recovery

Real Betis midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has returned to Sevilla to begin the final phase of his recovery from a foot injury that has kept him sidelined since late November 2025.

After undergoing surgery in the Netherlands in late January, the Moroccan international has now traveled back to the Andalusian capital to resume his rehabilitation with the club’s medical and coaching staff.

Amrabat landed in Sevilla on March 2, 2026 and is set to start working at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol, initially on an individual training programme focused on regaining fitness before eventually rejoining group sessions. “I’m feeling well; I hope to return soon and help the team,” he said upon arrival, adding that he will start with running and individual exercises before progressing toward full training.

The 29-year-old’s injury originated from an incident during a match against Utrecht in late November, an action that also saw teammate Isco forced off and subsequently undergo surgery. Since then, Amrabat spent several weeks in the Netherlands undergoing rehabilitation, and his return to Sevilla marks an important step toward resuming competitive play.

Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini and fans see Amrabat’s return as a significant plus ahead of the final months of the 2025-26 season, especially with the team preparing for important fixtures in both La Liga and the Europa League. Although he won’t train with the full squad immediately, his progress over the coming days will determine how quickly he can be reintegrated.

Having appeared in only 11 matches this season due to injury and absence for the AFCON, Amrabat’s comeback should provide added strength and experience to the Betis midfield, a unit that has felt his absence over recent months.
