RS Berkane Reach Champions League Semi-Finals for the First Time in Club History

Rabat – RS Berkane booked their place in the CAF Champions League semi-finals after a 1-0 win away to Sudan’s Al Hilal in the second leg of their quarter-final clash.

Berkane will now face fellow Moroccan side AS FAR in the semi-finals, confirming an all-Moroccan clash and guaranteeing Morocco a place in the final.

The first leg in Morocco had ended 1-1, leaving the tie open heading into the return match.

That meant Berkane needed a strong performance away from home, and they delivered when it mattered.

The game stayed tight for long periods, with both sides cautious and aware that a single goal could decide everything.

Al Hilal tried to use home advantage, but Berkane remained organized and patient.

The breakthrough came in the second half.

Berkane were awarded a penalty, which Monir Chouiar stepped up to take. He saw his effort saved, but the Moroccan side kept pushing forward.

Late in the game, deep into stoppage time at 90+3, Chouiar made up for the miss, scoring the only goal of the match to send Berkane through.

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, FAR produced a composed performance in Egypt, scoring early through Slim before Mohamed Hrimat added a second in the second half to seal qualification.

Winning in Cairo is never easy, but FAR handled the game well, controlling the tempo and limiting Pyramids’ chances.

With both RS Berkane and AS FAR now through, Morocco will have two teams in the semi-finals of the competition.

The semi-finals are set for April, with both Moroccan sides looking to go one step further and reach the final.
