Manuel Akanji has reportedly convinced Inter Milan to make his loan transfer from Manchester City permanent in the summer of 2026.

According to sources in Italy via FCInterNews, the Swiss center-back has impressed everyone at San Siro.

Despite an underwhelming debut against Juventus, Manuel Akanji has quickly found his footing in Serie A.

Indeed, the 30-year-old has already established himself as a regular starter under Cristian Chivu.

Signed from Man City on loan with an option to buy on deadline day, Akanji has wasted no time in proving his worth.

Moreover, the star defender has shrugged off a lackluster performance against Juventus to become a key piece of Inter’s defense.

Therefore, the Italian giants will likely trigger the buyout option in their loan agreement with the Cityzens.

Although Inter had originally planned to sign Akanji at the end of the season, they accelerated the move this summer.

Indeed, Benjamin Pavard’s loan exit forced the club to find a suitable replacement toward the end of the transfer window.
