Rennes Coach Confirms Muscle Injury for Ait Boudlal

Rabat – Stade Rennais head coach Habib Beye has confirmed that promising defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal suffered a muscle injury during Rennes’ recent Ligue 1 match.

The update came after Rennes’ 3‑1 defeat to RC Lens on Saturday, where the French side also saw 20‑year‑old center‑back Jérémy Jacquet exit the match with a serious shoulder injury. After the game, Beye addressed the media on both injury situations. “For Jeremy, it’s his shoulder, and for Abdelhamid, it’s muscular,” the coach said. “We’ll have time to see, but it’s definitely quite serious for both of them.”

Aït Boudlal, one of the most promising young defenders in the league, has already become a regular in Rennes’ rotation this season. Habib Beye didn’t give an exact date for his return, saying the club is taking a ‘wait-and-see’ approach for now. He made it clear they won’t know the full story until the medical scans and assessments are done.

The setback against Lens was compounded by Jacquet’s departure from the pitch after appearing in visible discomfort. The club need to balance patience with urgency as they work through this period.

Aït Boudlal, known for his power and maturity in defense, has been a regular for Rennes this season, even chipping in with a few goals on set pieces. This muscle injury is a huge letdown, especially since it comes right as Rennes is pushing for a European spot and trying to go deep in the cup

Rennes is just waiting on the medical results now to see how bad Aït Boudlal’s injury really is. They’re hoping the scans will give them a clear idea of how long he’ll be out. Habib Beye seems cautiously optimistic, but he’s making it clear the club won’t rush anything until they have a definitive timeline.
