Real Madrid Reassign Thiago Pitarch to Castilla in Bid for Game Time

Rabat – Real Madrid have opted to send Thiago Pitarch back to Real Madrid Castilla, a move driven by the need to secure regular playing time for the young midfielder after weeks on the fringes of senior action.

Pitarch had been involved with the first team since February, training alongside top-level players and gaining exposure to elite standards. Yet, that experience did not translate into match minutes, leaving the academy graduate without competitive rhythm during a crucial stage of his development.

The club’s decision now redirects him to Castilla, where immediate opportunities await. With the reserve side entering a decisive stretch of the season, including a Premier League International Cup semi-final against Dinamo Zagreb and an ongoing push for promotion, the timing aligns with both the player’s needs and the team’s ambitions.

His absence from Castilla had been noticeable. The midfielder has not featured for the B team since early February, when he appeared against Pontevedra. Since then, he remained the only academy player linked to the first team without returning to competitive action at reserve level.

Internally, the move is seen less as a demotion and more as a recalibration. Pitarch is expected to play a more central role, regain match sharpness, and contribute to Castilla’s objectives across senior league and cup competitions.
