Rabat to Host National March in Support of Palestine on April 19

Rabat – The National Working Group for Palestine issued a press release yesterday,  announcing a national march in Rabat for Palestine on Sunday, April 19.

The group’s statement on Facebook said the march will begin from Bab El Had in Rabat and proceed along Mohammed V Avenue. It will end in front of the Train Station in Rabat.

“This popular march is being held to denounce and condemn the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people, and to reject the policies of closing the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque and the CHurch of the Holy Sepulchre,” the statement read, condemning Israeli acts in preventing worship at the holy sites.

The group described the acts as a blatant violation of freedom of worship and the sanctity of holy cities, also condemning the worsening conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

The group also rejected Israel’s recent legislation aimed at legalizing the death penalty against Palestinians.

The law, according to the group, represents a dangerous escalation that undermines the right to life and contradicts the Geneva Convention.

The statement concluded by urging political forces, trade unions, and civil society organizations to join the national march.

For the group, the march is a reaffirmation of Morocco’s support for the Palestinian resistance against Israel’s genocidal campaign.

Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has faced relentless Israeli massacres marked by daily mass killings, starvation, and unyielding violence.

Morocco has been home to weekly protests in several cities, including Rabat and Tangier, condemning the genocidal crimes committed by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) against Palestinians.

Several reports show Morocco among the top countries to protest the Israeli bloody genocidal war on Gaza.

In 2023, an analysis drawing data from Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED) and the UN shows Morocco among the top 5 countries to protest against the IOF’s massacres in Gaza.

The Moroccan government has also reiterated its steadfast position in support of the Palestinian cause. The North African country has always reiterated the need for dialogue and the importance of a two-state solution, reaffirming its support for Palestinian independence with East Jerusalem as its capital.
