Casablanca – Morocco’s tourism sector supported 894,000 direct jobs in 2025, surpassing employment targets set under the country’s 2023–2026 tourism roadmap, according to figures from the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
The latest data show that the sector created 92,000 new direct jobs over the past three years. This exceeds the roadmap’s objective of generating 80,000 additional positions by 2026, reaching the target ahead of schedule.
The figures were highlighted in a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, which pointed to strong momentum across the sector as visitor numbers and tourism revenues also moved beyond the goals initially set for the end of the roadmap period.
Morocco welcomed nearly 20 million tourists in 2025, well above the 17.5 million arrivals originally projected for 2026. Travel revenues reached MAD 138 billion, surpassing the roadmap’s revenue target by MAD 18 billion.
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said the results demonstrate the impact of the measures implemented under the national tourism roadmap. She noted that the strategy was designed to deliver concrete benefits for citizens while strengthening the sector’s role in the national economy.
The ministry emphasized that tourism remains a major source of employment and economic activity in Morocco, with performance indicators continuing to move upward across several areas of the industry.
Officials say the latest results confirm the direction of the government’s tourism strategy, which focuses on expanding visitor numbers, increasing tourism revenues, and generating jobs across the country.
The figures come as Morocco continues to position tourism as a key driver of economic growth, with the sector playing an important role in supporting employment and regional development while attracting a growing number of international visitors.
