Rabat – Morocco will play a friendly against El Salvador on June 3 in the United States as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

The announcement came from Yamil Bukele, president of El Salvador’s football federation, who confirmed the match in a post on X.

Bukele described the game as a “high‑level commitment” that will benefit his team’s development and provide a strong test against Morocco.

The fixture is one of Morocco’s warm‑up matches before the tournament. Four days later, the Atlas Lions are scheduled to meet Norway on June 7 in another friendly.

CONFIRMADO: El Salvador jugará ante Marruecos, el próximo 3 de junio, en el Northwest Stadium, en
Landover, Maryland, como parte de los compromisos a disputar en la próxima fecha FIFA.

These games are designed to sharpen the squad ahead of the World Cup, where Morocco will aim to build on its recent success on the international stage.

As of now, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has not issued a formal statement confirming the El Salvador match.

However, the announcement from Bukele signals that arrangements are in place, with the game expected to be part of Morocco’s US  training camp.

For El Salvador, facing Morocco offers valuable experience against a World Cup contender. For Morocco, the match provides an opportunity to test tactics, assess player fitness, and adapt to conditions in the US, one of the three host nations of the tournament.

Morocco will face Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti in Group C. The Atlas Lions will begin their campaign against Brazil on June 13 at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey, followed by Scotland on June 19 at Gillette Stadium in Boston and Haiti on June 24 at Mercedes‑Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
