Casablanca – Morocco will suspend the Electronic Travel Authorization system for Malian nationals starting April 27, 2026, according to an announcement relayed by Mali’s foreign ministry after a notification from Rabat on April 23.
The measure had already been signaled earlier this month in Bamako during talks between Nasser Bourita and his Malian counterpart Abdoulaye Diop. It is now confirmed to take effect on Monday, with Morocco’s embassy in Bamako issuing a separate notice to that effect.
The AEVM, an online travel authorization required before departure but not a visa in the traditional sense, will no longer be needed for Malian travelers to enter Morocco. Travelers will still have to meet standard entry requirements, including valid travel documents and checks on arrival.

Mali’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the move, calling it a step toward stronger ties. Officials described it as a practical measure that should ease travel and support economic, commercial and human exchanges between Mali and Morocco.
The AEVM system had been expanded temporarily in the lead-up to the Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco. Between September 25, 2025 and January 25, 2026, several countries that are usually visa-exempt were added to the system, including Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Niger, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia. That period has now passed, and the list is shrinking again.
After April 27, only citizens of Congo, Ecuador, Ghana and Guinea will still need the AEVM to travel to Morocco.
For nationalities that do require visas, Morocco continues to offer an e-Visa system. Applications are submitted online, with a maximum validity of 180 days for a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days. Processing times range from 24 hours for express requests to around 72 hours for standard applications, according to the official portal.
