Morocco’s Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit met on Friday in Rabat with Tomasz Siemoniak, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister in charge of coordinating the country’s special services, who is on a working visit to the kingdom.

The talks covered migration, border security, movements across Africa, North Africa, the Sahel, and Europe, as well as training and the exchange of expertise, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Both sides stressed the importance of sharing best practices and developing joint operations based on mutual interest.

At the end of the meeting, the two officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security cooperation and launching joint initiatives in the service of stability and development. They also expressed willingness to broaden bilateral ties across other areas of shared interest.

Siemoniak’s visit to Morocco also included a meeting on Thursday with Abdellatif Hammouchi, the head of Morocco’s national security and territorial surveillance agencies (DGSN-DGST).

According to a DGSN-DGST statement, discussions focused on illegal migration, border security, operational cooperation against organized crime and terrorism, and threats in the Sahel and the Horn of Africa.

The two sides agreed to arrange a future visit by the head of Poland’s Internal Security Agency to establish a formal framework for the security partnership.
