Rabat—The Moroccan national futsal team is set to face Cape Verde today as part of an international tournament taking place in Berkane from April 10 to 14.

This tournament comes as part of Morocco’s preparations for the upcoming CAF Futsal Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2026, scheduled to be held in Morocco in October. In addition to Morocco and Cape Verde, Libya will also take part in the competition.

Head coach Hicham Dguig has used recent training sessions to focus on technical and tactical adjustments while also working on strengthening team cohesion and improving overall readiness.

The Atlas Lions will open their campaign against Cape Verde before facing Libya next Tuesday.

Dguig has called up a squad of 20 players for the tournament, including 11 players from the domestic league and 9 based in French and Spanish clubs.

The squad includes players such as Mohamed Chibi, Moaad Senna, Abdelkabir Abqar, Ismail Aouzal, Waad El Hafidi, Youssef Jouad, Othmane Idrissi, Saad Allah Hajji, Ayoub El Kaabi, Youssef Belammari, Mohamed Aoula, Soufiane El Mssrar, Bilal El Khannouss, Idriss Raiss Feni, Reda Madih, Anas Dahhani, Soufiane Bouftini, and Noufel Zerhouni.

This tournament offers Morocco a valuable opportunity to fine-tune their squad and build momentum ahead of a major continental event on home soil.
