    Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange-level weather alert warning of heavy thunderstorms, possible hail, snowfall, and strong winds in several parts of the country on Wednesday and Thursday. 

    According to the weather service, heavy thunderstorms with rainfall between 30 and 60 millimeters are expected on Wednesday in the provinces of Safi, Sidi Bennour, and El Jadida. 

    Rainfall between 20 and 30 millimeters is also forecast in Fahs-Anjra, Tangier-Assilah, Tetouan, M’diq-Fnideq, Larache, Chefchaouen, Rhamna, Essaouira, Youssoufia, Chichaoua, Kelaat Sraghna, Driouch, Oujda-Angad, Taza, Guercif, Al Hoceima, Moulay Yacoub, Taourirt, and Berkane. These storms are expected from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

    The same weather conditions are forecast in Beni Mellal, Al Haouz, and Azilal, with rainfall ranging from 30 to 65 mm. The alert for these areas begins at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday and will continue until noon on Thursday.

    Snowfall is also expected in mountainous areas above 1,400 meters. Snow accumulation between 25 and 40 cm is forecast in Azilal, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, and Al Haouz. Other provinces, including Midelt, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, Khénifra, Taroudant, and Chichaoua, may receive between 15 and 25 cm of snow. Snowfall is expected from Wednesday morning until noon on Thursday.

    In addition, strong wind gusts between 75 and 85 km/h are forecast in Tinghir and Ouarzazate from 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday until noon on Thursday.

    Authorities are advising residents to take precautions and stay updated on official weather reports as unstable weather conditions continue across the country.
