Morocco Futsal Team to Compete in Berkane Friendly Tournament Ahead of AFCON

The Moroccan national futsal team will continue its preparations for the upcoming continental competitions by taking part in an international friendly tournament in Berkane, scheduled to run from April 10 to 14.

The tournament will bring together three teams: hosts Morocco, Libya, and Cape Verde, as part of the Atlas Lions’ build-up to the Futsal AFCON finals.

This mini-tournament is another important step in an intensive preparation program designed to sharpen the squad’s competitiveness and ensure the team is fully ready for the continental challenge ahead.

The Atlas Lions of futsal will open their campaign on Friday, April 10, when they face Cape Verde. Two days later, Cape Verde will take on Libya on Sunday, April 12, before Morocco close the tournament against Libya on Tuesday, April 14.

All three matches are scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM (GMT+1).

Beyond the match schedule, the tournament will also serve as an evaluation phase for head coach Hicham Dguig, who has called up 20 players for the preparatory camp.

This camp is a chance for the coaches to check on the players’ fitness, sharpen their tactics, and really build team spirit before the AFCON finals.

The coach will use the friendlies to test different rotations and combinations, particularly as Morocco strives to keep their dominance in African futsal.

The decision to host the tournament in Berkane aligns perfectly with the efforts of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to provide the best possible conditions for the national team.

By organizing competitive friendlies on home soil, the federation is giving the squad an ideal environment to prepare while also allowing local fans to support one of the country’s most successful national teams.
