Casablanca – Morocco and Bahrain reaffirmed their determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors during the sixth session of their Joint High Commission, held today in Laayoune.

The meeting was co-chaired by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

The session provided an opportunity for both sides to review the trajectory of relations between Rabat and Manama and explore ways to further expand collaboration in line with their shared priorities.

Speaking on the occasion, Bourita highlighted the depth of the longstanding fraternal ties uniting the two countries and their peoples. He reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to giving new momentum to the partnership and broadening it to encompass additional areas of cooperation.

The Moroccan minister also outlined the potential available to both countries and underscored the importance of making optimal use of existing opportunities to advance common interests.

For his part, Al Zayani expressed his pride in visiting what he described as his second home, Morocco, and reiterated Bahrain’s keenness to continue working closely with Moroccan authorities to consolidate and diversify bilateral cooperation. He emphasized the importance of sustained coordination and dialogue in order to strengthen relations in various fields.

Discussions during the session focused on assessing the progress achieved under existing cooperation frameworks and identifying avenues to elevate the partnership to a higher level. The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments, as well as Arab issues of mutual concern.

The session was marked by the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding covering diplomatic facilitation, customs cooperation, as well as agriculture and social protection.

The documents were signed by Nasser Bourita and Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, reflecting the two governments’ intention to translate political will into concrete frameworks of collaboration.

Among the signed instruments were agreements granting visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic passports, as well as for holders of special and service passports between Morocco and Bahrain.

The two sides also concluded a memorandum of understanding on customs cooperation between Morocco’s Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes and Bahrain’s Customs Affairs, aimed at strengthening coordination and facilitating exchanges.

Additional memorandums were signed in the fields of agricultural and animal production, rural development, and food security, alongside an agreement on cooperation in pensions and social security between Morocco’s Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion and Bahrain’s General Organization for Social Insurance.

At the close of the session, both countries welcomed the positive trajectory of their bilateral ties and reiterated their shared commitment to elevating relations to broader levels in line with the directions of King Mohammed VI and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Both sides noted with satisfaction the convergence of their positions on these matters, reflecting the close alignment that characterizes relations between the two countries.
