Rabat – Toulouse FC awarded Moroccan talent Wassim Darkak his first professional contract, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Darkak has spent several years developing his attacking skills within the French team academy through different youth categories. Coaches at the club have followed his development closely as he continued moving up the ranks.
The 18-year-old forward impressed in France’s main youth cup competition at the Coupe Gambardella. The Moroccan striker scored twice in three matches, a clear sign of his ability to be decisive in front of goal.
Following the announcement, Toulouse president Olivier Cloarec congratulated the young player and spoke about his development at the club.
“Congratulations to Wassim,” Cloarec said. “He’s a talented player with a great attitude. We’re looking forward to continuing to support him as he progresses and gets closer to the first team. I’d also like to thank the coaches who played a role in his development.”
Julien Lacour, the director of Toulouse’s academy, noted that the forward has shown clear progress since joining the club.
“Very early on we saw that he had something interesting,” Lacour said. “He has always shown determination and a strong work ethic. This contract is the result of the work he has put in over the years.”
Assistant coach Dylan Henry, who previously worked with Dardak in the under-13 and under-14 teams, also hailed the player’s commitment during his time in the academy.
Dardak has also gained some experience with the Moroccan youth level. He was part of the Morocco U-17 squad that competed in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, when the Moroccan side reached the quarterfinals before falling to Brazil in a narrow 2-1 defeat.
Signing his first professional contract marks an important moment for the player. The next step will be to keep progressing and try to earn chances with Toulouse’s senior squad in the future.
