Rabat – Moroccan security forces at the Tangier City Port arrested on Thursday a 26‑year‑old Dutch national wanted internationally on serious charges, including drug trafficking and homicide.

Police ran the suspect’s information through the Interpol database during a routine check and discovered a Red Notice issued by French authorities. This notice signaled that the man was sought worldwide for his alleged involvement in illegal drug distribution and murder, prompting his immediate arrest.

After the detention, Moroccan authorities initiated formal surrender procedures and referred the case to the competent public prosecutor. The National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol in Rabat has also informed its French counterpart of the arrest. This coordinated action reflects ongoing international cooperation in fighting transnational crime.

The arrest reflects Morocco’s commitment to global security and strong collaboration with Interpol and international partners to track down fugitives who cross borders in pursuit of crime.

Morocco has been steadily strengthening its role in Interpol and in international law enforcement cooperation. The country recently hosted the 93rd Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech from November 24 to 27, bringing together senior police leaders and security officials from nearly 180 countries to address major global security challenges.

The Marrakech gathering saw delegates focus on strategies to tackle organized crime, cybercrime, transnational fraud, and other threats that require joint action across borders.

Moroccan officials, including Director General of National Security Abdellatif Hammouchi, emphasized the importance of collective security efforts and Morocco’s determination to contribute actively to Interpol’s mission.
