Mbappe Back in Training Ahead of Manchester City Clash

Rabat – Real Madrid received a major boost before their Champions League second leg against Manchester City. Kylian Mbappé returned to full training with the squad and is expected to feature in Tuesday’s decisive match at the Etihad Stadium.

The French striker trained normally and showed no signs of discomfort, according to Spanish outlet AS. His presence in the starting lineup is now highly likely.

Mbappé has been sidelined since February 21, when Madrid lost 2‑1 to Osasuna in Pamplona. He missed three La Liga games against Getafe, Celta Vigo, and Elche, as well as two Champions League fixtures against Benfica and City, due to a sprained left knee.

Coach Alvaro Arbeloa welcomed the news, as Madrid needs their star forward to strengthen the attack against Pep Guardiola’s side. The tie remains finely balanced, and Mbappé’s return could be decisive.

There was also positive news regarding defender Carreras. He completed part of the group session and may be included in the traveling squad.

His final fitness will be tested in training at the Etihad before a decision is made.

Asensio’s situation is less clear. The defender is still struggling with calf pain and remains doubtful. He has not been ruled out completely, but the medical staff will decide on his availability before the team departs for Manchester.

Other injured players continued individual recovery programs, while those who played against Elche took part in a lighter recovery session.

Madrid’s preparation now centers on integrating Mbappé back into the lineup and assessing Carreras and Asensio. The return of their star forward gives the squad renewed confidence as they aim to overcome City and advance in Europe’s biggest competition.

Real Madrid will face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday. In the first leg, Madrid claimed a 3‑0 victory thanks to a hat‑trick from Federico Valverde, giving them a strong advantage heading into the decisive clash.
