Rabat – Marrakech police arrested two young men, aged 22 and 23, on Friday in connection with a street robbery involving a motorcycle.

The suspects allegedly grabbed a woman’s handbag in broad daylight while riding a motorbike. The incident was recorded on video and quickly circulated on social media drawing public attention.

Authorities said they launched an investigation after the video circulated online, which led to identifying and locating the suspects.

Both men were taken into custody and are now under judicial investigation supervised by the public prosecutor.

Police said the investigation aims to uncover all circumstances surrounding the theft, determine the suspects’ involvement in other potential crimes, and fully clarify the motives behind the attack.

Often called “snatch-and-grab” thefts, motorbike robberies have become increasingly common in Moroccan cities. Criminals use motorcycles to move quickly through busy streets and target pedestrians before quickly escaping.
