King Mohammed VI Appoints Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan to Key Royal Armed Forces Role

Casablanca — King Mohammed VI has appointed Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan as Coordinator of the Offices and Services of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, according to a statement from the Royal Cabinet issued Saturday in Rabat.

The role was previously held by the King himself when he was Crown Prince. He had been entrusted with the coordination of these offices and services in 1985 by his father, the late King Hassan II.

The statement recalled that the Royal Armed Forces operate under the authority of the King, who is Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff. It described the institution as guided by a set of core values in carrying out its national duties as well as its humanitarian and social missions.

These values include competence and discipline, integrity and commitment, and a strong sense of responsibility. The statement also pointed to what it called sincere patriotism across all components of the armed forces.

It added that the forces remain attached to their enduring motto God, the Nation, the King.

The appointment places the Crown Prince in a role tied closely to the internal coordination of the military’s central command structures.
