Sacramento reacted to the news in a message posted on Instagram, where he spoke about the significance of representing Morocco at the international level.
“With great pride and immense enthusiasm, I join the project of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation,” he wrote.
The Portuguese tactician added that working with the Atlas Lions represents both an honor and a responsibility.

Focus on the 2026 World Cup
Sacramento also spoke about the strength of Morocco’s current squad, describing it as one of the most talented groups in the country’s football history.
“I am excited to work with one of the best generations in the history of Moroccan football. Excited to start this new chapter,” he added, ending his message with the phrase “Dima Maghrib.”
The Moroccan national team has gained international recognition in recent years, particularly after its historic run to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Sacramento joins Ouahbi’s coaching staff alongside former Moroccan international Youssouf Hadji, who will also serve as an assistant.
The Portuguese coach is widely known for his work alongside renowned manager José Mourinho, having served as part of Mourinho’s staff at clubs including AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur.
His experience at the highest level of European football should strengthen Morocco’s technical staff as the team prepares for the upcoming international competitions.
Morocco is entering a new phase after the appointment of Ouahbi as head coach, following the departure of former manager Walid Regragui.
The Atlas Lions are now preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where expectations remain high after Morocco’s historic performances in recent years.
