The New York Knicks got a fairly large weight lifted off their shoulders last night, after they picked up their first road win of the season over the Dallas Mavericks 113-111.

All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson made his return to the floor after missing two games with a mild ankle sprain and dazzled. The Villanova product led the Knicks in scoring with 28, to go along with five assists and three rebounds.
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, who coached Brunson at the tail end of his tenure in Dallas, had nothing but positive things to say about his former player after the game.

“He’s one of the best players in the world. He was tough here, I think he might use his right hand a little bit more, something that we tried to talk about him using here,” Kidd said with a smile via The Smoking Cuban’s Noah Weber.

“I think when you look at Brunson’s basketball IQ, his work ethic, he loves the game…he loves the stage…he’s not gonna run from it’s he’s gonna embrace it.”
It’s some kind words coming from Kidd, who himself is one of the best point guards ever to grace the NBA.
There were some rumblings in the offseason that the Knicks were interested in adding Kidd as their head coach after firing Tom Thibodeau, and given the already existing connection between Brunson and his former Mavericks head coach, it’s easy to see why.
New York will be taking on the Orlando Magic on Saturday in their next outing, looking to get revenge on the team that served them a 124-107 loss earlier this season at Madison Square Garden.
