Israel Strikes Southern Lebanon, Violating Ceasefire

Rabat – Israel has carried out new strikes in southern Lebanon despite an ongoing ceasefire.

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) says it has carried out multiple attacks in southern Lebanon since the ceasefire began. According to its statements, these strikes targeted fighters it considers a threat near areas where Israeli troops are still deployed.

Israeli forces also announced the creation of a so-called “yellow line,” a boundary separating their positions from areas further north. The military says it will act against anyone approaching this line if it believes there is danger.

At the same time, Israeli artillery fire has hit several towns in southern Lebanon, including Beit Leif, Qantara, and Touline. Reports also indicate ongoing demolition of homes in some areas, raising concerns about further displacement and damage to civilian areas.

Tensions have also increased after a deadly attack on United Nations peacekeepers. French President Emmanuel Macron said one French soldier was killed and three others were wounded in an attack targeting the UN mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

He suggested that Hezbollah may be responsible and called on Lebanese authorities to investigate and hold those behind the attack accountable. Lebanon’s government has condemned the incident and ordered an immediate investigation.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah officials have criticized Lebanon’s leadership over its position on the conflict. A senior Hezbollah figure accused the Lebanese president of failing to recognize Iran’s role in securing the ceasefire and warned that the group’s “patience has ended,” signaling possible future escalation.

Aid organizations report that entire villages in southern Lebanon have been destroyed, forcing many families to return to areas with no basic services. Thousands remain displaced, as they struggle with limited access to water, food, and shelter. Aid workers say rebuilding homes will be difficult, but rebuilding people’s sense of safety and stability will take even longer.
