Rabat – Tangier authorities have arrested a 38-year-old man from a sub-Saharan African country who was wanted under an Interpol warrant issued by Belgian judicial authorities.

The suspect appeared on Interpol’s Red Notice list after Belgian authorities linked him to a criminal network involved in financial fraud and scams.

Moroccan police located him in Tangier and confirmed his identity through the international police database.

Following the arrest, the man was placed under formal extradition procedures under the direction of the public prosecutor.

Interpol Morocco has informed its Belgian counterpart of the detention.

The arrest comes as Morocco continues to strengthen its role in international security by actively tracking and arresting individuals wanted for cross-border crimes.

Through close cooperation with Interpol and foreign law enforcement agencies, Moroccan authorities ensure that fugitives cannot evade justice by crossing borders.

Operations similar to this one reflect the country’s determination to uphold the rule of law and protect national and global security.
