Rabat – Interpol has awarded Abdellatif Hammouchi, Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), its highest-class medal in recognition of his role in strengthening regional and international security.

The award is the most prestigious award that the organization grants to international security officials.

DGSN said in a statement that the award reflects Hammouchi’s commitment towards strengthening the security and stability at both regional and international levels to reinforce the values of partnership between Arab states and Interpom

The award reflects the “organization’s appreciation for Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi’s unwavering commitment to supporting international cooperation in law enforcement, and his effective contribution to building a safer and more just world for all,” the DGSN statement reads.

The award ceremony took place during the closing session of the General Assembly of Interpol, which has been taking place in Marrakech since November 24.

The event convenes over 800 security officials to discuss security cooperation and renew their willingness to reinforce joint efforts against organized crime.

Hammouchi adds the award to a growing list of decorations he has received from global partners.

Earlier this month, Hammouchi received the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Spanish Civil Guard in Spain.

The distinction is also the highest honor granted by the Spanish Civil Guard to foreign personalities in recognition of their contribution to security cooperation.

Also from Spain, in 2014 Hammouchi received the Honorary Cross of Police Merit with Red Distinction.

In regard to France, he has received three major distinctions – namely, in 2011, 2024, and 2025.

Back home, in 2011, King Mohammed VI awarded Hammouchi the Wissam  Al Arch of the Officer rank.

This year, the security chief received recognition from the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, who awarded him the Prince Nayef Medal for Arab Security.
