Rabat – The Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) will host Meetings on the Alliance of Civilizations, an event seeking to serve as a platform for dialogue and reflection on the profound transformations driven by AI.

The university will organize the event on April 27-28 to discuss the theme “The Future of Human Civilization in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”

The international gathering is organized in collaboration with the UN Chair for the Alliance of Civilization in partnership with the Muslim World League and the United Nations Alliance for Civilizations (UNAOC).

The event’s program covers a high-level opening session, marking the participation of government officials as well as international lawmakers and renowned figures from five continents.

In a joint statement, the university and UNAOC described the symposium as a “major international event,” bringing together leading academic, scientific, and diplomatic figures from five continents, along with over 1,400 young participants from 50 countries.

Reflecting on the importance of the event as a platform for dialogue, the university said the program and work agenda will shed light on innovations in AI as well as their impact on global technological development.

The program also seeks to address societal and governance-related aspects, focusing on ethics, responsibility, and trust.

Experts participating in the event will discuss exploring regulatory frameworks, governance, mechanisms as well as models of international cooperation needed to guide AI development in an already rapidly changing global environment.

The discussions will also center around the concrete applications of AI in different sectors, such as healthcare.

“In a global context marked by accelerating technological change, geopolitical tensions, and deep societal transformations, the forum aims to promote a holistic and ethical approach to artificial intelligence-one that reconciles innovation, sustainable development, and respect for universal values,” the university’s statement concluded, citing Fez’s assets as a crossroads of civilization and knowledge.

The university says that the event is part of ongoing efforts to reinforce the city’s role as an international hub for dialogue and forward-looking thinking on the future of humanity.
