Rabat – Euromed University of Fes (UEMF) has been ranked the number one university in Morocco by the international academic ranking platform ScholarGPS, the university announced today.
ScholarGPS uses artificial intelligence to measure scientific performance across universities and researchers worldwide. In its latest results, UEMF placed first nationally among Moroccan universities across all academic fields, the university said in a press release.
The ranking also placed Professor Mostapha Bousmina, President of UEMF, as the top-ranked Moroccan researcher overall.
The statement said UEMF’s ranking reflects the “scientific output of its researchers and the university’s increasing visibility at the international level.”
UEMF was followed by Mohammed V University, Hassan II University, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Chouaib Doukkali University, and Cadi Ayyad University.
ScholarGPS also released its “Top Scholars by Country – Morocco” ranking, which highlights the most influential Moroccan researchers across all disciplines over their careers. Two researchers from UEMF were included in the list, including Mostapha Bousmina and Belkheir Hammouti.
Other Moroccan researchers recognized in the ranking work with Mohammed V University of Rabat, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), and Chouaib Doukkali University in El Jadida.
UMEF said the ScholarGPS ranking adds to a series of international recognitions the university received in 2025. The Stanford–Elsevier ranking listed eight UEMF researchers among the top 2% most cited scientists in the world.
In addition, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings ranked UEMF first in Morocco. The ranking evaluates universities based on sustainability and environmental responsibility. The Round University Ranking (RUR) also placed UEMF as first in Morocco, second in Africa, and among the top universities globally for teaching, research, and innovation.
