Rabat – Palais Jawhara in Rabat’s Hay Riad district welcomed a large and attentive crowd today evening for an exclusive fashion show by Queeny Design, turning the venue into a lively gathering point for designers, creatives, and fashion enthusiasts.
The event unfolded in an atmosphere marked by steady arrivals, full seating, and continuous movement around the runway.
Guests filled the hall well before the show began, creating a dense and animated setting as anticipation built.
African aesthetics through a contemporary lens
The runway presentation unfolded under the theme “Élégance In Motion Africaine and Modernité,” offering a visually rich series of looks that approached African fashion through modern cuts, fluid lines, and an evident sensitivity to movement.

Long silhouettes, layered fabrics, and carefully structured pieces created garments that shifted in character as models walked, allowing each design to reveal itself gradually rather than all at once.
The collection set up a conversation between heritage and contemporary expression, where references to African aesthetics appeared through fabric choices, patterns, and construction, while remaining firmly anchored in a modern wardrobe.
The looks moved between softness and structure, with expressive forms that balanced restraint and presence, inviting the audience to read each outfit beyond its surface.
New creations by Queeny Design were presented in measured, well-paced sequences, giving the audience time to engage with the details of each passage.
Textures, color palettes, and tailoring drew steady attention, as attendees followed how materials interacted with light and motion.

Designer perspective
In an interview with Morocco World News (MWN) on the sidelines of the event, Esther Yamutwale, the stylist behind QueenyDesign, described her feelings ahead of the show: “I’m really excited, but I have to admit I’m a little nervous as well.”
She noted the significance of the evening for her career and creative vision: “The principle for me is to show you the way I really see the African elegance. It’s not only about fashion, but it’s about a way of seeing life.”
Yamutwale also explained her approach to design, and how long she started this journey in Morocco. “I am here to represent my brand, Queeny Design. We are based here in Morocco for 10 years now, and we have a place in Bouznika where we craft our work.”
A decade of work in Morocco
The designer has been based in Morocco for the past ten years, where she founded and developed her fashion company.
Over the years, her work has evolved through sustained engagement with the local creative scene, shaping a style influenced by her long-term presence in the country.
Today’s show in Rabat reflected this trajectory, situating Queeny Design within a growing space where African fashion finds new forms of expression in Morocco.
The evening concluded with continued exchanges among guests, designers, and attendees, extending the event beyond the runway itself.
