Rabat – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has announced a comprehensive and integrated security system to ensure the safety of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.

A statement from DGSN said that the system covers stadiums, fan zones, and border points to provide a secure environment for both national and international spectators.

The system also aims to guarantee smooth operations throughout the tournament, which runs from December 21 to January 18.

Abdellatif Hammouchi, the General Director of DGSN and Morocco’s Territorial Surveillance Directorate (DGST), reviewed the latest security arrangements to secure all the AFCN matches today.

He visited the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex to inspect the security and safety protocol for the opening game between Comoros and Morocco.

Hammouchi also reviewed security preparations for the tournament.

He toured facilities and infrastructure dedicated to spectators.

Police tackling the stadiums briefed Hammouchi on the operation of the command and coordination rooms connected to surveillance cameras.

“The security system adopted by the DGSN is distinguished by the establishment of an African Police Cooperation Center to accompany the event from a security standpoint,” DGSN said.

The measures put in place include representatives of security services from participating countries as well as delegates from FIFA and CAF, in addition to Interpol.

Security representatives from Qatar, Portugal, and Spain are also part of the efforts.

“DGSN has upgraded all sports security units across Morocco, strengthened their human resources and logistical means, and provided them with a visual identity that allows for easy identification, in order to ensure close and effective monitoring of all sporting events and activities,” DGSN concluded.
