Casablanca – Morocco’s main private sector organization has officially launched the process to elect its next leadership, opening applications for the positions of president and vice-president general ahead of its upcoming electoral assembly.

The The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) announced that its Ordinary and Elective General Assembly will take place on May 14, 2026 at 3 p.m., when members will vote to select the new leadership team for the organization.

In accordance with the confederation’s statutes and internal regulations, candidates wishing to run must present their bids as a joint ticket composed of two individuals, one seeking the presidency and the other the position of vice-president general. The application process opened on March 11 and will close on April 8 at noon.

The CGEM said candidates must meet a number of eligibility conditions defined by its governing texts. Applicants must be Moroccan nationals and serve as the legal representative of either a company that is a direct member of the confederation or a statutory sector federation affiliated with the organization.

Candidates must not have received criminal convictions and must not currently hold, or have held within the six months preceding the submission of their candidacy, decision-making or executive roles in a political party.

In addition, the company represented by the candidate must have maintained at least three consecutive years of membership within the CGEM, including the year in which the electoral assembly takes place, and must be up to date with its membership contributions.

Each ticket must also obtain the support of 100 CGEM members whose contributions are current at the time they sign the endorsement. These supporting members must come from at least three different CGEM regional structures, with at least 30 percent of the signatures coming from regions outside Casablanca.

Applications must be submitted in a sealed file delivered to the CGEM headquarters in Casablanca and addressed to the organization’s deputy director general.

The file must include a formal declaration of candidacy identifying both candidates, their curricula vitae, copies of national identity cards, recent criminal record documents, and supporting materials confirming eligibility.

The electoral calendar also sets April 22 as the deadline for members to regularize their contributions and May 13 as the final date to obtain membership eligibility to vote in the upcoming assembly.
