Casablanca Police Arrest Five Over Stone Attacks

Rabat – A dispute between two families in Casablanca took a dangerous turn on Thursday, leading to the arrest of five young men suspected of involvement in violence, property damage, and an attempted arson attack.

Police in the Rahma district moved quickly after the situation escalated in a residential area.

According to initial findings, what began as a personal conflict soon spiraled into open confrontation, with individuals throwing stones and targeting nearby property.

The incident grew more serious when some of those involved allegedly tried to start a fire using a gas cylinder, an act that could have caused far greater harm if it had not been contained in time.

Officers intervened shortly after the clashes broke out and managed to apprehend all five suspects, aged between 20 and 27, within a short span.

Authorities placed the individuals in custody as part of an ongoing judicial inquiry under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.

Investigators now seek to establish the full chain of events and determine whether others played a role in the confrontation.

The operation forms part of Morocco’s broader efforts to maintain public order and respond firmly to acts that threaten safety and stability.

Security services continue to monitor and intervene against incidents of violence and vandalism, with a focus on prevention as well as enforcement.

Such actions reflect an ongoing approach that prioritizes the protection of citizens, the rule of law, and swift accountability for those involved in criminal acts.
