Rabat– The Federation of Construction Materials Industries (FMC) on Thursday launched the first edition of the International Coating and Finishing Trade Fair (SIR 2026) in Casablanca, marking a new milestone for Morocco’s construction materials sector.

Running until January 31 at the Casablanca International Fair, the event brings together professionals from the coating and building finishing industries under the theme “Enhancing Moroccan Heritage in Ornamental Stone and Marble.” The trade fair aims to provide a dedicated platform for showcasing expertise, innovation, and investment opportunities across the sector.

Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), the event aligns with the Performance Contract linking the state and the FMC.

According to organizers, the launch reflects confidence in Morocco’s industrial, geological, and human potential, considered sufficiently mature to host a structuring event capable of uniting stakeholders across the coating and finishing value chain. Led by the FMC and its member professional associations, the fair seeks to strengthen the visibility and coherence of complementary sectors, particularly marble and ornamental stone, regarded as emblematic of Morocco’s national heritage.

Designed as a cross-cutting platform, SIR 2026 extends beyond marble and ornamental stone to include ceramics, tiles, sanitary products, paints, installation materials, waterproofing systems, and innovative technical solutions for the construction sector. This integrated approach reflects the realities of modern construction projects, where coordination among trades is key to competitiveness.

Marouane Zouhri, Vice President of the Moroccan Federation of Building Materials, expressed his enthusiasm for the first edition of the International Coating and Finishing Trade Fair (SIR 2026), currently taking place in Casablanca.

Zouhri explained that the edition was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Housing, Urbanism, and City Policy, with support from partners including the Ministry of Trade and Industry, as well as the backing of federation members representing professional building materials associations, such as those for marble, ceramic manufacturing, and industrial covering and tile materials, all of which contributed to the organization of the event’s first edition.

“This edition will have a special character, as it will include B2B meetings between companies and live demonstrations. Live applications of materials will take place during this edition at the international fair,” he told Morocco World News.

Over three days, the event features exhibition spaces, technical demonstrations, B2B meetings, professional networking opportunities, and thematic events. Organizers aim to encourage investment, foster partnerships, strengthen industrial integration, and promote Moroccan-made products on national, African, and international markets.

Through this inaugural edition, the FMC seeks to establish the International Coating and Finishing Trade Fair as a long-term professional platform supporting the development of Morocco’s construction materials industries and advancing a competitive and innovative industrial ecosystem.
